This seven-hectare park is the highest point of land in Esquimalt and was previously known as Transfer Woods
Originally part of Constance Cove Farm and owned by a Hudson’s Bay Company subsidiary, the land earned the name 'transfer' as it served as the site where horses from the Victoria Transfer Company were moved between the south and north sides of the township
The cairn built on the summit commemorates the golden jubilee of the incorporation of the Township of Esquimalt
While exploring, you’ll find directional markers to the other lookout points in the Capital Regional District
At the summit you’ll enjoy sweeping views of Victoria, Esquimalt, Saanich, and a stunning panorama of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Salish Sea
This park showcases glaciated knolls and a rich array of native plants, including sword ferns and blue camas, all nestled among stands of Garry oaks, arbutus, and Douglas fir trees
This park is a favourite among dog walkers and bird watchers
The park is accessible from Cairn Road off Old Esquimalt Road, Highrock Place off Rockheights Avenue, or from Matheson Avenue off Rockheights Avenue
