Saxe Point Park

Saxe Point Park in Esquimalt offers coastal trails, beach access, and sweeping views of the Olympic Mountains, with remnants of its WWII history still visible today

About

  • Saxe Point was designated as park land in 1934 and is 7.5 hectares

  • Parts of the park were used for garbage disposal, during the 1920s

  • During World War II, a searchlight was installed as part of Canada’s Department of National Defence shoreline defence efforts

  • The base platform for the light can still been seen near the turnabout in the park

  • Along with many walking trails and beach access points, you can find views of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca
