Browning Park

Browning Park is located along the Bowker Creek Greenway, where local efforts led by the Friends of Bowker Creek Society work to restore the creek’s natural habitat and celebrate its rich ecological and historical significance

  • Browning Park is approximately 1.5 hectares

  • Bowker Creek Greenway runs through the park

  • Bowker Creek is named after John Sylvester Bowker, an American who settled in the area during the 1860s

  • The creek used to have coho salmon and cutthroat trout swimming in its waters

  • The Friends of Bowker Creek Society supports the restoration and enhancement of the creek

  • They help with riparian habitat restoration, invasive plant removal, garbage cleanup, and planting native plants

  • You can join the society for $10 per year – visit bowkercreek.org

  • Ancestral lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən people, known today as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations
