PKOLS Mount Douglas Beach
PKOLS Beach in Saanich is a birdwatcher’s haven and culturally significant shoreline within PKOLS (Mount Douglas) Park, now accessible via a newly rebuilt eco-friendly staircase

Location
Saanich
About
PKOLS (Mount Douglas) Beach is located within the 188-hectare park
The staircase down to the beach was closed in summer 2022 due to the lower section falling into the ocean
A new staircase opened in early 2023 using Green Shores principles which aim to reduce the impact of development on shoreline ecosystems
Mount Douglas Park was renamed to PKOLS, its original Indigenous name and is an important location in the history of the W̱SÁNEĆ Nation
The beach is a favourite of local bird watchers and if you’re lucky you might spot an eagle
There is a parking lot located near the beach and washroom facilities are available
