Roche Cove Regional Park

Roche Cove Regional Park in Sooke offers forested trails, scenic coastline, and connections to Matheson Lake and the Galloping Goose trail

About

  • Roche Cove Regional Park is located in Sooke and is 163 hectares in size

  • It was established in 1985

  • Roche Cove was named after Richard Roche, 3rd Lieutenant on HMS Satellite, a British naval vessel stationed in Esquimalt from 1857-1860

  • Roche was an amateur photographer and during the late 1850s he photographed areas surrounding Victoria

  • Roche took part in the joint military occupation of San Juan Island, an event that also honours his name

  • In the park you’ll find the Matheson Creek trail which connects to Matheson Lake Regional Park

  • The park also has a more challenging option, the Cedar Gove trail

  • The ever-popular Galloping Goose trail also passes through the park
